Meet the Doula!
My name is Cassandra (Cassie) Childs and I am a wife, mother of three children and a certified birth doula. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a mother some day and I have always had an interest in birth work. Becoming a mother only amplified that interest into full blown passion! I had unmedicated natural births with all three of my children, one with a doula and two without, so I’ve experienced first hand the difference between having doula support vs not, which is what led me to want to become a doula myself.
For me, pregnancy was not easy. With all three of my children I had a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum, which is a fancy way of saying I was miserably sick for the entire nine months each pregnancy. But God showed me mercy when it came to labor and delivery, granting me labors that were less than 5 hours with my first two children and a precipitous ONE hour labor with my third! We just barely made it to the hospital in time to meet our precious youngest daughter!
When I’m not tending to my kids, you may find me exploring a nice nature trail or tending to my 30+ house plants! I love spending time outdoors in creation where I find the most peace and comfort. I also enjoy writing, which is why I love offering a written birth story to my clients because what better topic to write about than what I’m most passionate about, birth!
I believe that birth is a sacred and transformative event that should be treated as such. My goal in supporting you is to empower you with knowledge and confidence to give birth the way you feel is right for you, whether that is in a hospital or the comfort of your own home. I offer evidence based information so that you can make informed decisions for yourself and for baby and I teach you how to advocate for yourself with confidence. Birth is a natural process that we have been conditioned to fear but the truth is, you were made for this! Birth does not always need to be treated like a medical event and with the right support, natural physiological birth the way God intended IS possible!
